Description:
States with (1) approved OSM coal regulatory programs, (2) active coal mining operations contributing to the Abandoned Mine Reclamation Fund, and (3) with lands affected by coal and non-coal mining prior to 1977?and Tribes meeting conditions (2) and (3)--may submit a reclamation plan for approval. States and Tribes with approved reclamation plans are eligible for Abandoned Mine Land (AML) grants to pay the project development, construction and administrative costs to reclaim dangerous or hazardous abandoned mine sites.
